Plainedge Soccer Club is hosting travel team tryouts for players who are eligible to play in LIJSL Under 10 age group for the Fall 2023 & Spring 2024 seasons (Players Born in 2014).
Plainedge Soccer Club aims to provide registered players with a safe and welcoming environment to develop their skills and game understanding.
At the u10 age level, the program aims to build on previously learned skills with club coaches now leading the teams and 'setting the pathway' with the club able to assist where needed and provide club trainer(s) if/as required.
Club Tryouts will be held for all interested players, and club trainers will run these and look to form 'Ability Based' teams thereafter.
*Plainedge SC u10 LIJSL are/will be NEW Teams. U9 Developmental Travel 'teams' are not rolled-over to u10.
*LIJSL matches - for u10 - are played on Saturday(s) in the Fall and in the Spring, and divisional alignments are within Nassau County.
*LIJSL matches - for u10 - are 7v7 (6+GK), and the maximum allowable roster size is 14 players.

Players are encouraged to attend both dates, BUT MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE of the tryout dates to be considered for a travel team.
Attending players will be checked in at the field on each tryout date.
Players should wear regular soccer apparel including shin-guards and bring an inflated soccer ball.
All interested players are required to register for tryouts via the GotSport platform. This will allow the club to better plan and communicate throughout the tryout process.

Spring 2023 LIJSL Season - for Current (2014) Developmental Travel Teams continues through the weekend of June 10/11
Coaches Interest RSVP - Ongoing through June 11
After Travel Tryouts AND Spring 2023 u9 LIJSL Season is over, the club will send out updated info with projected numbers of travel teams looking to form.
The club will then look to announce 'A' team coach(es) and players selected for the 'A' team will be contacted by the coach(es) and invited to join the team.
When the 'A' team roster is confirmed, the club will look to announce coach(es) for further team(s) and players selected will be contacted.
Players who accept a team invitation will be asked to register online for the Fall 2023 - Spring 2023 Travel Program.
PSC Summer Training Clinic (July) will be offered for players looking to stay active on the field.
'NEW' team activities would be projected to start in August - ahead of the Fall 2023 season.
*The club will look to form as many travel teams as possible based on number of interested players and coaching candidates.
*Any players NOT invited to join a travel team will have the option to register for LIJSL Interleague, and the club's new training partners at Gold Coast FC will look to assist with regards potential team coach assistance if/as required.
*Players looking to play LIJSL Interleague do not need to tryout and registration and further details will be available after July.1 when travel rosters are confirmed.
What are the projected costs for u10 Travel?
Projected full-year travel registration cost = $300
This covers all Club & LIJSL registration fees, insurance, and ref fees.
What uniform do u10 Travel players need/wear?
NEW u10 Travel players will be required to order the 'Plainedge SC Travel Uniform' from soccer.com
Coaches will send out additional info with regards this as well as details re player numbers AFTER a player has registered for a travel team.
When will the teams practice?
At the u10 Travel level, all teams are coach led and they will set season practice schedule.
Teams may look to have a club trainer train the team and coaches can/will liaise with the clubs new training partners at Gold Coast FC for details and pricing.
Are there any additional costs?
Additional costs will apply for trainer fees and any tournament attendance with team coaches informing families re these.

As per LIJSL rules;
Coaches will be required to satisfy ENYYSA & LIJSL 'Risk Management' requirements.
Coaches will be required to hold - or acquire - an LIJSL Coaches Pass
Coaches will be required to hold - or acquire - the 'Foundations of Coaching' Level 2 Diploma'
Interested coaches will receive additional info from the club travel registrar and board throughout the tryout process.
Foundations Of Coaching Level 2 Diploma – This course meets the mandatory coaching license requirements for U9 and U10 travel coaches.
The LIJSL/United Soccer Coaches Foundations of Coaching Level 2 Diploma is a four-hour, in-person course. Foundations of Coaching Level 2 Diploma focuses on the two “S’s of development” – skills and soccer. Coaches will learn the fundamental difference between a drill and player-centered activity. There will also be age-appropriate activities that relate to a player’s physical, cognitive, and mental development. The course then leads into how to develop activities to foster skill development and discussion on the principles of play, tactics, and strategy.
